Peter Willems appointed CEO of the RBFA
The board of directors of the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) has appointed Peter Willems as CEO. He will have a mandate until the end of December 2025.
Willems has been working at the RBFA since February this year. First as director of Refereeing, and since April also as director Sport. This role will now be expanded. To keep the workload manageable, the sports department will no longer be overseen directly by Peter Willems, but by a sports committee within the board of directors. Willems joins that Sports Committee.
With this appointment, the board of directors wants to bring calm and stability, and guarantee the proper functioning of the RBFA. Meanwhile, it continues to safeguard its role as a strategic body, taking the necessary time to further outline its long-term functioning.
"After a tumultuous period, we look ahead with great enthusiasm. As CEO, Peter Willems will not only oversee the RBFA's financial situation, but also further develop and supervise ongoing projects. Peter knows the organisation, and will provide the necessary stability. We count on him to build on the future of Belgian football."
– Pascale Van Damme, president RBFA
"The RBFA faces a number of challenges, but there are also many opportunities. Together with the employees of the RBFA, Voetbal Vlaanderen, ACFF and our partners, and with the support of the board of directors and the executive committee, I hope to write a great story. The RBFA is a wonderful organisation made up of passionate and motivated employees. We are going to do our best every day for the good of Belgian football."
