New away kit for Belgian Red Devils tribute to René Magritte and Belgian Surrealism

The new away kit is a tribute to Belgian artist René Magritte and the art movement known as Belgian Surrealism. The light blue, pink, and white kit features black details. Fitting the theme of surrealism, the eye-catching graphic print will trigger the imagination and spark conversation. The print is a playful nod to Magritte’s work. Others will recognize elements of the RBFA crest, or symbols of the game of football, like the ball and lines of a pitch. A twist on Magritte’s The Treachery of Images ‘Ceci n'est pas une pipe’ (This is not a pipe) is visible as subtle detail in the neck of jersey: ‘Ceci n'est pas un maillot’ (This is not a jersey).

Tradition of honoring Belgian icons

This is the fourth Belgian away kit in recent history that is a tribute to something, or someone with roots in Belgium and recognized and celebrated around the world. The UEFA EURO 2016 away kit was a salute to the Belgian cycling heritage, a sport in which Belgium has had and continues to have great international success. The FIFA World Cup 2022 away jersey and capsule collection was inspired by Tomorrowland’s famous fireworks, bridging the worlds of sport, music, and entertainment. The UEFA EURO 2024 away kit was a tribute to comic artist Hergé and his main character Tintin, bringing many fans back to their childhood.

Debut & availability

The Belgian Red Devils will debut the away kit in the friendly match against the USA on Saturday, March 28 in Atlanta, USA. The away kit is the first RBFA away kit in the modern era to feature adidas Originals branding, completing the classic look. A new anthem jacket, pre-match jersey, and lifestyle collection are part of the new collection. The collection is available from Friday, March 20 at 10h (CET), on adidas.be, shop.rbfa.be, and through selected adidas stores and retailers around the world.
