Mathieu Istace will become the new press officer of the Belgian Red Devils

The Royal Belgian Football Association is delighted to announce that Mathieu Istace will be joining the organisation as the new Head of Communication & Content with effect from Tuesday 15 September 2026.

In this role, which will see him lead the RBFA’s communications and content department in both sporting and corporate matters, Mathieu Istace (41) will also serve as press officer of the Belgian Red Devils.

Mathieu Istace is by no means a stranger to the world of sports media. A journalist and commentator for over 20 years, Mathieu worked for many years for the production company Woestijnvis. Throughout his career, Mathieu has worked for Pickx Sports, RTL and RTBF, amongst others. Since 2025, he has also been a coordinator and journalist for Play Sports.

“I am delighted to have been given this wonderful opportunity, which will allow me to continue combining my passion with my work. Thanks to my professional experience to date, I have been able to experience some incredible moments in club football, but working within the Royal Belgian Football Association and in direct contact with our national teams motivates me immensely. I am really looking forward to taking on this new challenge, for which I will give my very best with the help of my colleagues.”
