Final result Belgium-Sweden: 1-1

Belgian and Swedish Football Association satisfied with UEFA decision

UEFA has decided to keep the half-time score of the stopped match between Belgium and Sweden as the final result. The Belgian and Swedish Football Federation are satisfied with the decision.

After the stopped match, both the Belgian and Swedish football federations asked to keep the half-time score as the final result. UEFA has followed the federations' request, deciding that the match will end 1-1.

"Football should be a celebration, but Monday night a cowardly act decided otherwise. At such a moment, when the football family is struck in its heart, sporting results are secondary. With UEFA's decision, the match has now been officially called off, but we will not forget the victims. Our thoughts are with their families, and the players, staff and supporters of the Swedish national team. I would like to thank the fans of both teams for their patience, understanding and cooperation after the match was stopped, and the security services and stewards for their professionalism and smooth collaboration."

– Manu Leroy, interim CEO RBFA

“We are pleased to hear that UEFA has come to a decision and that the decision is in line with what both federations wished for. However, sporting matters are secondary, our thoughts are with the victims and their families. That innocent Swedish supporters became targets of terrorism is shocking and it is hard to foresee what the consequences will be for the future. Together, we must show that we remain united against terrorism. We would like to thank UEFA, the RBFA, Belgian authorities and, not least, the Belgian supporters for the support they have shown to us – immediately on site and during the days that have passed since the tragic events Monday night.”

– Håkan Sjöstrand, CEO Swedish Football Association

Finally, the players, staff, management, and board of directors of the RBFA would like to express their support to the Swedish team, the Swedish fans and everyone affected by this tragedy.
