The match in the King Baudouin Stadium between the numbers 1 and 11 in the FIFA rankings starts at 8.45 p.m. Access for supporters will depend on the Covid19 measures in force at that time.
The two teams last met in the fall of 2013. Back then, Belgium qualified for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, with 2 goals by 20-year-old Romelu Lukaku.
Several Belgian Red Devils are currently playing at their clubs together with Croats. Real Madrid players Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, among others, will face captain Luka Modric. Romelu Lukaku will meet his Internazionale teammate Ivan Perisic.
The acclaimed team spirit of the 2018 World Cup finalist will look different. Ivan Rakitic, the other turntable in Croatian midfield and former FC Barcelona player, ended his international career with 106 caps three months ago.
The European Championship starts for our Belgian Red Devils on Saturday 12 June 2021 in host city St. Petersburg, with matchday 1 of 3 against Russia. Their other opponents in Group B are Denmark and Finland.
It will be the first European Championship for the Belgians with Roberto Martinez at the helm.
