Belgian Red Devils play Egypt on November 18 in Kuwait

Ahead of the start of the FIFA 2022 ​ World Cup in Qatar, Belgium will play a friendly game against Egypt on November 18 in KuwaitKick-off at 6:00pm local time (4:00pm Belgian time).

The Belgian Red Devils will gather in the Proximus Basecamp in Tubize on November 14 and leave for Kuwait the next day. Straight after the game in Kuwait, the team will fly to their basecamp in Qatar where Belgium’s first World Cup Group Stage match is scheduled on November 23 against Canada. Later on Belgium will take on Morroco (27/11) and Croatia (1/12).

Roberto Martinez, Belgium’s national team coach is delighted with the opportunity to play Egypt ahead of the Qatar World Cup:

“This is a specific way of preparing for a major tournament; focused on using time in a very specific matter. Playing an African opponent in a Middle-East country will cover every aspect in our preparation.”

The program of the Belgian Red Devils

  • 14/11: team gathers in Proximus Basecamp in Tubize
  • 15/11: flight to Kuwait
  • 16 & 17/11: training in Kuwait
  • 18/11: Belgium-Egypt at the Jaber Stadium in Kuwait City (kick-off 6:00pm local, 4:00pm Belgian time)
  • Followed by transfer flight to Doha.
