Belgian, Dutch and German Football Associations announce official launch of joint bid to host the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027™

Joint bid has ambition to deliver a FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ of historical levels of quality and impact

The Royal Belgian Football Federation (RBFA), Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) and German Football Association (DFB) are excited to announce the official launch of their joint bid to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™. This announcement comes following many months of visble activity in laying the groundwork in preperation around today’s formal launch.

Extensive and detailed consultations between the three federations along with key stakeholders including central governments dates back to 2021. This has led to alignment around the belief that our three countries are well placed to stage a FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ of unparalleled quality and impact. The objectives set around staging this unique and prestigious competition are ambitious and align with the duty hosts have in supporting FIFA in its responsibilities to develop football globally.

The bid which is known as BNG2027 aims at Breaking New Ground by ensuring it delivers a competition on a level not seen before in the history of the women’s game. A successful BNG2027 bid will ensure that participating teams and fans from across the world are made to feel welcomed and have them experience a festival of football in an environment which is hospitable, friendly and safe.

BNG2027 will offer a logistical set-up guaranteeing an exceptional fan experience through accommodation and transport links of the highest quality. Matches will be played within a compact vicinity centered around the borders of our three countries to limit travel and meet ambitious objectives around sustainability which is at the heart of all operational and logistical planning to ensure that we deliver a FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ that has a long lasting and positive impact on our three nations.

But Breaking New Ground will not be limited to our ambitions for the tournament itself or indeed our three countries. The aim is to leverage a successful BNG2027 bid to support FIFA’s objective to accelerate and deepen the growth of the game across all of its 211 Member Associations and help these reach new levels in their efforts to develop women’s football domestically. The commercial success of BNG2027 especially will be an important factor in supporting FIFA in meeting this aim. Ultimately, BNG2027 will seek to encourage girls and women around the world to take up football both on and off the pitch and see it as a pathway to human emancipation and fulfilment. Beyond participation, an enhanced interest in following and engaging with the women’s game for both men and women and stakeholders more generally is also at the heart of what BNG2027 seeks to achieve.

The focus in the weeks ahead will be to shape a bid that aligns and even surpasses the requirements FIFA has set for staging the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™. This will be set out and outlined in the bid book that will be delivered on 8th December.

“We are delighted to announce the official launch of the BNG2027 bid. Following months of preperations we look forward to presenting our bid to host the FIFA 2027 Women’s World Cup™ which we are confident will deliver a tournament of unparalleled quality for both participating teams and fans from across the world seeking to taste the unique experience and thrill of elite international football. Women’s football finds itself at a historical moment in its development. Building on the growth witnessed in recent years, we are convinced that a successful BNG2027 bid can act as a powerful catalyst to ensure the women’s game can tap into the huge opportunities and potential that exist to fulfil its development at every level across every country leading to enhanced levels of participation and deepening engagement and interest from fans and stakeholders.’’
